Health

Okay, so I need to share this because honestly, I had no idea about hummus hummus until my dog Bella got into some. I thought, "It's just food, how bad can it be?" Big mistake.

While dogs can technically eat plain hummus without a trip to the emergency room, they really shouldn’t due to the potential health risks.

Although hummus is primarily made from chickpeas, which are safe for dogs to eat in moderation, hummus often contains other ingredients that aren’t good for your dog, like oils and seasonings..

I wish I had known this sooner. if your pup has eaten hummus, you should contact your vet for guidance. here’s why hummus is bad for dogs.

While hummus is not good for dogs, feeding plain, fresh chickpeas to your pup is not harmful and has some health benefits.

If you’re snacking on hummus and feeling bad about not sharing with your doggo, you might be able to feed them some common hummus dipping options.

Cucumbers, carrots, broccoli, and other veggies are perfectly safe and healthy for your dog.

If your dog ate hummus, you should keep an eye on them for any strange behavior.

They most likely will not experience anything beyond some stomach upset, but that depends on the weight of your dog and how much hummus they ate..

I learned this the hard way, but at least Bella is okay now.

if you know your pup ate an entire tub of the dip, you’ll want to check the ingredients to see if the hummus contains garlic or onions.

I'm sharing this because I wish someone had told me earlier. Hopefully this helps someone else avoid the same mistakes I made with Bella.
