Watching Luna go through this was heartbreaking.

the answer to this question is both easy and complicated — it really depends on your dog.

how do you know how much your dog values a particular reward.

For example, say you ask your dog to sit before opening the front door for a walk.

Instead of sitting, however, they go off to play with a tennis ball.

The more you incorporate reward-based training into your daily routine — and the fewer rewards your dog gets for “free” — the more motivated they’ll be to listen to you over the long term.

And ultimately that means a better relationship between you and your dog..

This was definitely a learning experience for me. Luna depends on me to keep him safe, and I'm trying to do better every day.
